Judy & I use Qwest's DSL service, which has been fine, except for those days when their Soviet-era DNS servers decide to take a nap.

Then we retain full connectivity for any services that are already connected, but God help us if we want to open a new page. That was the situation this morning. Luckily, I had saved off the instructions for setting up our router to use the free and open DNS servers at OpenDNS.com.

A few minutes later, we've got reliable, fast page load times plus a batch of goodies like DNS query stats and anti-phishing filters. I'll let y'all know if they screw up, but for now, we're a pair of happy geeks.

Soup.io needs to provide author attribution

Note to Soup.io dev team: we need some form of automated author ID for content feeds.

I want to make sure the people I follow (and like well enough to stream to this blog) to get credit for their hard work and ingenuity.

I recommend that you add a rollover popup to the account-type badge that displays a link to the user account from whence the content came. For example, the popup for this Twitter status would display the Twitter profile for the author of the item.

Apple Keynote has offered similar functionality (albeit without the utterly useless zoomed-out view) since its debut in 2003.
