There are many Plants vs Zombies fans at Adaptive Path. This article on PopCap, and their design and development process, written before PvZ, is priceless. Some of their “casual” games take 3-4 years to develop, because they only release things they think are great. Here’s a more recent conversation with the founders.
Brandon is quoted on the homepage of Keynotopia, which provides tools for prototyping iPhone and iPad apps in Apple’s Keynote.
Nuit Blanche – A short film exploring a fleeting moment between two strangers, revealing their brief connection in a hyper real fantasy.
Twitter updates prove what we Californians already expected–the west coast is happier than the east coast.
Anthroposts is a collection of Post-it Notes found on the street, and read by anonymous online workers.
Cabel from Panic (great Mac apps!) tweeted a photo of awesome early 1900s-era floor tile, and 5 days later tweeted again about how it had been destroyed. A follower of his feed re-created the tile pattern digitally. Yay internets!
Friend of Adaptive Path Derek Powazek offers smart thoughts about designing for iPad. We liked: “I drastically underestimated how much time it’d take to do the design phase of the app. Over the years, I’ve gotten pretty quick with the web design, which made me overconfident. Apps have a lot of hidden corners that can disrupt a user experience. Getting them right takes time.”
In the future, you will still get money from an ATM. But it will be a lot nicer.
We’re not quite sure how to feel about the research that shows “watching favorite TV shows can provide the experience of belonging without a true interpersonal interaction.”
You’ve probably seen this by now (we only post these weekly), but we enjoed Jason Santa Maria’s post on A Real Web Design Application, and there’s good comments, too!
The web means the end of forgetting. (Long read, worth it, save to Instapaper if you need to!)
Do you like MAD MEN? We do! And this Design Observer piece on Jerry Della Famina, Mad Men, and the Cult of Advertising Personality is a good read.
